Přichází hrdinka, která nechce svět dobývat, ale tišit jeho rány. Henika, mladá čarodějka s klisnou jménem Potvora a věrnou strakou po boku, není žádná klasická zachránkyně světa. O to víc mě zasáhlo, s jakou tichou odvahou vstupuje do míst plných bolesti, beze slov nabízí útěchu – a někdy jen prostě naslouchá.

Zpěv straky je kniha, která nepřináší velká hrdinská gesta ani dramatické zvraty, ale tichou a hlubokou cestu mladé čarodějky Heniky. Její síla nespočívá v dobytí světa, ale v léčení ran – těch na těle i v duši. V době, kdy svět ovládá strach a bolest, nabízí Henika útěchu tam, kde ji nikdo jiný nemůže dát.

Autorka Dana Beranová využívá magicko-realistickou poetiku, která krásně propojuje realitu s jemnými náznaky kouzla a snů. Styl psaní je výjimečný tím, že se příběh Heniky prolíná s dalšími menšími příběhy – tzv. mezihrami – které pocházejí z různých časových období. Tato forma vytváří bohatý mozaikový celek, kde jednotlivé události a osudy na sebe navazují a zároveň se vzájemně doplňují, což příběhu dodává hloubku a vrstevnatost.

Děj je zasazen do klasického středověkého světa, který ovládají krutí a mocichtiví vládci. Ti se snaží všechny ostatní podrobit a přetvořit svět k obrazu své síly – bez vědy, bez umění, bez svobody. Právě pomocí meziher se o tomto mocenském pozadí dozvídáme – většinou z pohledu zcela jiných postav. Tím se vytváří nejen širší obraz světa, ale i naléhavost Heničiny cesty.

Heniku jsem si velmi oblíbila. Není to typická hrdinka, která mění svět násilím nebo mocí, ale žena s velkým srdcem, která hledá způsob, jak napravit rozbité osudy kolem sebe. Líbí se mi, že ani ona sama není dokonalá – má pochybnosti, dělá chyby, ale vždy se snaží najít správnou cestu. A právě díky tomu působí tak lidsky a opravdově.

Příběh navíc jemně načrtává motiv zakázané lásky, který dodává čtení zvláštní napětí a emoci – je to nenápadné, ale o to silnější. Mezi kapitolami jsou navíc ony citlivé mezihry, které příběhu dodávají rytmus a propojují osudy ostatních postav v jakési tiché symfonii.

Zpěv straky není kniha, kterou přečtete rychle a zapomenete. Je to kniha, která vás zklidní, donutí zastavit se a přemýšlet o tom, co znamená bolest a léčení, o křehkosti života i síle přátelství. Pokud máte rádi příběhy, které nejsou jen o akci, ale především o duši, tahle kniha vás určitě osloví. 

Já sama mám teď rozečtený druhý díl a jsem moc ráda, že Dana Beranová tuto sérii napsala – a hlavně, že s ní pokračuje. Ve světě plném epických fantasy plných bitev a mečů působí tenhle pomalý, lidský a poetický příběh jako teplá sprcha po dlouhém studeném dni. A já si to neskutečně užívám.
