Sérii Mýty jsem nečetla, ale na knihy jsem se dívala a jsem si naprosto jistá, že si je budu muset jednou pořídit. Do dnes se vydalo celkem 22 dílů této zajímavé série. Ale tato kniha je prequel k této sérii.
O autorovi –
Bill Willingham, americký spisovatel a komiksový tvůrce, začal svou kariéru v 70. a 80. letech, kdy působil ve společnosti TSR, jež se specializovala na vydávání her, včetně slavné hry Dungeons & Dragons. V TSR pracoval jako výtvarník a ilustroval produkty pro RPG (role playing games, neboli hry na hrdiny). Nejvíce se ale proslavil svou komiksovou sérií Mýty. Tato série čtenářům představuje část New Yorku, kde žijí postavy, které uprchly z pohádkového světa, jenž je teď okupován. Mýtičtí hrdinové se mezi obyčejnými lidmi potýkají s každodenními problémy, včetně vražd a dalších ne-pohádkových záležitostí. Mezi knihy, které jsou součástí této série, patří například Legendy v exilu, Farma zvířat nebo Láska jako z pohádky.
Kniha Mýty: Tisíc a jedna zasněžená noc je jedno z těch děl, které vás zcela pohltí. Co mě na ní uchvátilo nejvíc, je její originální spojení klasických pohádek a příběhů, které jsou známé každému, ale tady dostávají nový, fascinující kontext. Bill Willingham vytvořil něco neobyčejného – ne jen další příběh z Mýtova, ale kompletní mozaiku vyprávění, kde se pohádky nejen prolínají, ale jsou navzájem přetvářeny a převyprávěny v zcela novém světle.
V samotném jádru knihy stojí Sněhurka, která se dostane do rukou místního sultána. Tím, jak mu vypráví příběhy, si nezískává jen jeho pozornost, ale i život. Tento rámcový příběh je skvělou kostrou pro to, co následně přichází: fascinující směs temných, hororových, ale také zábavných a okouzlujících příběhů. Každý z nich, od těch tragických po ty vtipné, přináší něco nového, něco nečekaného. A právě to mě na knize bavilo – že se příběhy neustále vyvíjejí a překvapují mě.
Když se setkáváme s postavami, vidíme je nejen v jejich známé podobě, ale také v kontextu, který je zobrazuje v úplně novém světle. To, jak Willingham vypráví příběhy, mi připomnělo něco jako pohádkovou mozaiku, kde se každá část skládá do většího obrazu, který postupně odhaluje detaily a tajemství.
Ilustrace, které knihu doprovázejí, jsou také naprosto fascinující. Různí talentovaní kreslíři vnášejí do příběhů různý vizuální styl, což dodává každé kapitole jedinečnou atmosféru. Od tmavých, skoro gotických obrazů až po svěží a hravé ilustrace, to vše skvěle podporuje vyprávění. Podtón příběhu se promítl i do stylu kresby, alespoň mi to takto přišlo.
Pro fanoušky série Mýty je Tisíc a jedna zasněžená noc neocenitelným doplňkem, který prohlubuje pochopení světa, který Willingham vytvořil, a přináší nové úhly pohledu na postavy, které jsme už tolikrát milovali. Ale i pro nováčky, kteří se rozhodnou tuto knihu otevřít, tak jako já, je to skvělá možnost, jak nahlédnout do světa pohádek, které jsou známé, ale nikdy ne tak, jak je vidíme zde.
Celkově bych knihu doporučila všem, kdo mají rádi originální přístupy k vyprávění a kdo oceňují hlubší vrstvy příběhu, ve kterém se prolínají pohádky, mýty a tajemství minulosti. Tisíc a jedna zasněžená noc je vynikající čtení a já si ho užila!

Miluje fantasy již od dětství a její největší vášní byl a je Harry Potter a Pán prstenů. První si zamilovala knihy a poté i filmy. Od té doby miluje vše co je s fantasy svázáno. Ať už se jedná o PC hry, stolní hry, hru na hrdiny, knihy nebo filmy a seriály.
